More STDs Among Porn Stars Than Prostitutes
Who is more likely to have an STD: a Los Angeles porn star or a Nevada prostitute? According to a new study, the former, by far. A survey of 168 LA County adult film stars found 28% have gonorrhea, chlamydia, or both; the number of prostitutes infected is negligible, the Los Angeles Times reports. That's because Nevada state law requires them to use condoms, and they're tested every week for the diseases, notes the report, which comes ahead of an LA County ballot measure that would force actors to use condoms on set.
Since Nevada instituted the condom and STD testing rules, there have been no cases of HIV infection among prostitutes, adds the report, whereas the porn industry has seen several. What's more, "the report clearly shows that current testing practices miss two-thirds of active gonorrhea and chlamydia infections" among porn stars, says an expert. The porn industry counters that regular urine testing of performers makes for a safe environment, but the LAT notes that actors aren't checked for rectal or oral infections.

Ryder, Jeremy Appearances

Autopsy pending for porn actor after police altercation
LOS ANGELES — A porn actor died five days after an altercation with police inside an ambulance.
The incident began as authorities responded April 8 to an attempted suicide call and found Marland Anderson, known professionally as Sledge Hammer, with an apparent knife wound.
Anderson – who was reportedly in a agitated state — was handcuffed to a gurney for transportation in an ambulance, where he tried to stand up but "moved with such force that he broke the gurney free from a floor lock and broke the handcuff," The Los Angeles Times reported.
An officer riding in the ambulance restrained and used a TASER to try to subdue the subject, but he continued to resist, Lt. Andrew Neiman said. The Taser may have made contact with the leg of another officer, who complained of being hit with prongs.
Police called for backup, and officers, now outside the ambulance, again confronted the 6-foot-1, muscular man.
"Six to eight [officers] eventually managed to control him,"Neiman said.
Anderson, who reportedly had been dealing with depression, anxiety and a mild form of schizophrenia, was conscious when he was taken to a hospital by ambulance, where he lost consciousness and died Friday, five days later.
The death is under investigation by the LAPD and autopsy is expected this week. The extent of Anderson's self-inflicted knife injuries were not reported.

Law VS Adult Production
Dr. Chauntelle Anne Tibbals, Ph.D., will present her forthcoming paper "Adult Film Performers and Occupational Safety and Health" at Stanford Law School in Stanford, CA on Wednesday, April 11, 2012.
Tibbals is one of three panelists presenting work at Stanford Law School’s Safety of Sex Workers event. She will present work summarizing data and insights gleaned from twenty-four women and men currently working as adult performers in the Southern California/Los Angeles area. Her findings call attention to disconnects existing between California state law and adult production practices. The event will begin at 12:45 PM. Presentations will be followed by discussant-led Q&A and questions from the audience. Tibbals hopes to address adult industry workplace and safety issues commonly ignored by policy makers, regulators, and academics during the event.
"Current regulations do not take the inner-workings of the adult industry or the concerns of the workers they’re trying to protect into account," said Tibbals.
"Disconnects existing between adult industry producers and performers, regulators, and the wider social world are deep-seated and significant. Reliance on the concept of bloodborne pathogens protection as it is currently defined points to a lack of understanding about the mechanics of professional sex performance," she continued.
Tibbals is a sociologist, a Visiting Scholar at the University of Southern California (USC), and the driving force behind the 2012 XBIZ Award Nominated site, PVVOnline.com. "Dr. Chauntelle," as she is commonly known, has spent almost ten years researching the adult industry, working to complicate popular understanding of the adult business, its enterprise, and its socio-cultural significance "We need to work to understand the realities of adult production and performers’ concerns. Systematic analysis of the structure and operations of the adult industry in Southern and Northern California is imperative, as are comparisons between the two. This work must be done before further attempts at regulation are made."

Principal to Teen: No Porn Star Prom Date
Mike Stone, who scored a porn star as his date to prom after sending some 600 tweets, has apparently been thwarted by the powers that be. The superintendent of his Minnesota school district told Fox News that Megan Piper cannot attend because doing so would be "inconsistent" with two visitor-related polices. Stone said it more bluntly on Twitter: "The school said if she comes to prom they will arrest her." The Daily Dot reports that Stone also got a talking-to from his principal. "He said I’m not in trouble but said I should get out of that stuff. He told me not to get into any more drama like this."
The principal also called his parents, and his mom is, predictably, quite peeved. "She’s saying I embarrassed them now," says Stone (who amusingly says he's a fan of Piper's "work" but insists he has only seen photos, not video). As for Piper, the 19-year-old is bummed, she tells the Huffington Post. PRINCE YASHUA FUCKS FIVE TIMES! BFD!
I just read a press release from our good friends at Smash Pictures. Those dudes were hypin' up some big-shit movie they have coming up starring Prince Yashua called "Prince the Penetrator". See, the big selling point of this movie appears to be the fact that Prince Yashua appears in all five scenes. When I read this, I thought - whoa, somebody's trying to re-do the Man vs. Pussy challenge!
As you may recall, Man vs. Pussy pitted one man and his penis against five sex scenes, all within the course of 12 hours. The idea of someone attempting to re-enact this epic feat sounded pretty damn hype. Shit, the idea of an entire new "fuck challenge" genre of porn blossomed in my brain, pregnant with brainstorms and opportunities.
But then I read on and realized that they never mention any sort of time limit. In fact, it sounds like Yashua's shooting all of these scenes on totally separate days! What the fuck is that shit? I'm fucking impotent for most intents and purposes and I could pull that off! Fucking five times in a month or so? BFD! I'll say it again: BFD!!!

BROOKLYN LEE WINS BEST NEW STARLET!
